Why it is not recommended to fly in shorts

Flight experts urge passengers to never wear shorts or Bermuda shorts on flights.

According to the flight attendant, lean your head against an airplane window and travel in shorts are two things worth avoid. There is another side to the idea of ”wear shorts for the flight so you’re ready for hot weather as soon as the plane lands at your destination” and there’s another side to consider.

Flight steward Tommy Shimato explained why you should not wear shorts on a flight and touch the window glass. According to the flight attendant, “when you decide to get some sleep, do not bow your head while touching the window. You are not the only one who came up with this idea, and therefore it is not known who touched it before you. You don’t know how many people or children “groped” its surface! Wearing shorts is the same. You never know how clean the seat will be, so if you wear tight trousers (jeans), you will protect yourself from hordes of germs and bacteria,” says a crew member.

In addition, the toilet is considered one of the dirtiest places on the plane, and the steward strongly recommends “never touch the flush button with your bare hands. She, frankly, can be very dirty, so first wrap your hand in a napkin and only then press the drain.

Tommy went on to give some general advice. For example, drink plenty of water before a flight (and in flight) to stay hydrated and feel more alert (fresh) upon arrival at your destination. If passengers feel unwell during a flight, he urges them not to hesitate to contact flight attendants: “If you need food, water, or a seasickness package, let us know.”

American stewardess Jamila Hardwicke recently revealed on Inside Edition that some parts of the aircraft are rarely removed, including folding tables. The girl explained, “My God, this is disgusting! When the cleaners come, they don’t have time to wipe down all the tables.”

However, during Covid, airlines have adopted a number of strict safety and hygiene measures, including disinfection of the aircraft before and after the flight.

Passengers are encouraged to use disinfectant wipes to clean their tables before eating, especially after photos (and videos) of passengers using the seats in front of them as footrests were posted on social media, some without shoes or socks .
