Mitsotakis commented on the resignation of Tsipras with venomous rhetoric

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis commented on the resignation of the main opposition leader Alexis Tsipras with a venomous comment.

He called Alexis Tsipras’ decision “expected” and said SYRIZA “identifies itself with toxicity, divisive speech and deafening inefficiency.”

Greek journalists asked the Prime Minister for comment as he arrived at the European Council summit in Brussels.

“I believe this was an expected decision after the three crushing defeats suffered by SYRIZA and Alexis Tsipras personally in the national elections. I believe that with the resignation of Alexis Tsipras, the circle closes. SYRIZA has been a party that in recent years, both in government and in opposition, has been identified with toxicity, divisive discourse and resounding inefficiency when it is finally called upon to rule the country’s destiny. Parties must bring citizens together, and above all, they must offer reasonable, cost-effective and feasible solutions to citizens’ problems. SYRIZA has never followed this path. I hope he (Tsipras) finds him. I sincerely wish that for him.”

SYRIZA related newspaper avgi.gr and many on social media described Mitsotakis’s comment as a “vile, dim-witted, petty, pusillanimous and unworthy” prime minister making such statements about his political opponent, and at the most difficult moment, the moment of his departure.

PS Mitsotakis was and remains what he is, and today he has a “Victory Day”. The one with whom he fought for many years, the one who brought him many problems and troubles, left. But will this victory go to Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the future?

The former head of SYRIZA, with his attacks and criticism, constantly kept the current head of New Democracy on his toes and forced him to constantly turn to patrons to protect him. Now, given the nature of Mitsotakis, there is a great risk of the New Democracy leader sliding into a rigid method of government, which he has repeatedly demonstrated before. At the same time, with a high probability, the members of the New Democracy will become even more mired in corruption and embezzlement, because now there is no one to “bark” at them. After all, the leaders of other political parties simply do not have any serious political and social influence to oppose Mitsotakis.
