15% of the seats in the Greek parliament were taken by right-wing parties

The horror of the system at the emergence of the right is evident, since since last night it has been trying to portray the three right-wing parties – Greek Solution, Pobeda and Spartans – as… ultra-right.

The three parties that entered the parliament, together with the right-wing parties that remained outside the parliament, such as the “Voice of Logic” (“Φωνή Λογικής”) of Aphroditi Latinopoulou and the party of P. Emfietzoglu and K. Bogdanu, received a total of more than 15%! A percentage that is likely to increase even more in the coming years, depending on the political developments that take place.

It also shows the potential that a coalition of all right-wing parties together can have. By simple mathematics, if they formed a coalition, it would be the third party in terms of representation in parliament.

As for the “Greek Decision” (Ελληνική λύση), Kyriakos Velopoulos was able to get out of the internal crisis without loss, in which his party found itself two months ago, thanks to transfers like P. Saraki and S. Tzuma. He retained his electoral strength, despite the fact that he was under pressure from “Victory” (“Νίκη”) and “Spartans” (“Σπαρτιάτες”), who both made it to parliament and have a common electoral “pool”.

The “Spartans” came as a surprise to many in the election, but in fact it is not, since this party received the support of Ilias Casidiaris, which means that all of his voters voted for this party.

Before the exclusion of the “Greeks” (“Ελλήνων”) Ilias Kasidiaris polls showed that his party could win 5% of the vote. As a result, it turned out that the majority of these voters did not vote in the first elections, and a small part chose “Victory”.

However, with the advent of the Spartans, these voters again received an electoral exit and went en masse to the post, the one for which they eventually voted. The party received an impulse that allowed it to significantly exceed the threshold for entering parliament within 20 days.

There was a certain pressure on Pobeda, since part of its voters, who came from the electorate of Elias Kasidiaris, was oriented towards the Spartans. However, she managed to keep her dominant electoral mass and cross the threshold of parliament.

The system has every reason to be concerned, because, depending on what happens next, the proportion of right-wing parties in the elections may increase. Even the “Voice of Logic” of Afroditi Latinopoulou and the “Patriotic Coalition” of P. Emfietsoglou-K.Bogdanos paid for their expulsion in the first elections in May. If they had taken part in the elections, things could have turned out much better for these two parties, since they would have started from a much better starting position, and their image would not have been tarnished, since the reasons for their expulsion were made with gross violations, at least At least that is what their electorate is sure of.

For reference. The characterization of the New Democracy party as conservative (or right-wing) is highly controversial. Indeed, except for the fact that it is supported by big capital, its actions and real politics, in general, correspond to the characteristics of a liberal party with a clear shift to the left.
