A “catastrophic explosion” occurred on a bathyscaphe heading for the wreckage of the Titanic. The crew died

The US Coast Guard called the cause of the death of the submersible “Titan” an inward-directed explosion that occurred on Sunday.

How informs CNN, tail cone and other debris were discovered remotely operated vehicle about 1600 feet (487.68 m) from the bow of the Titanic, deep in the North Atlantic and about 900 m east of Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

Five bathyscaphe passengers died in a “catastrophic explosion,” authorities said Thursday, following an extraordinary five-day international search operation near the site of the world’s most famous shipwreck. In the list of dead tourists:

  1. Hamish Harding, 58, is the captain of the submersible. It is known that he was a British billionaire who managed to fly into space, as well as make the fastest circumnavigation in the world.
  2. The organizer of the excursion, which turned into a tragedy, is 61-year-old Stockton Rush. He founded a company that sent tourists on this extreme journey. It is known that his wife is the great-great-granddaughter of the dead passengers of the Titanic.
  3. An experienced aquanaut, 73-year-old Paul-Henri Narjolet – during his life he went down to the Titanic almost 40 times, but this one became fatal. The man was considered one of the world’s top experts on the history of the liner.
  4. The youngest among the dead is 19-year-old Suleiman, who went to the submarine with his father, a billionaire in the chemical industry, 48-year-old Shahzade Davud.

Tour organizer OceanGate Expeditions said they all died in the submarine. They “shared a special spirit of adventure,” the company said in a statement. Relatives and everyone who knew the victims express their condolences and try to cope with the tragic loss. Engro Corporation Limited, of which Pakistani businessman Shahzada Davuda was Vice Chairman, released a statement:

Dubai-based Action Aviation, owned by Hamish Harding, released a statement on behalf of the family of the deceased:

“Today we are united in grief with other families who also lost their loved ones on the submersible Titan. Hamish Harding was a loving husband to his wife and a devoted father to his two sons, whom he loved deeply. For his team at Action Aviation, he was a guide, inspiration, support and living legend. We know that Hamish would be immensely proud to see countries, experts, industry peers and friends come together for the search, and we express our heartfelt gratitude for all their efforts. On behalf of the Harding family and Action Aviation, we would like to kindly ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.”

French diver Paul-Henri Nargueole’s family stated that he “will be remembered as one of the greatest explorers of the deep sea in modern history”. A statement signed by Nargeola’s children and wife says they hope people think of Paul-Henri and his work when they think of the Titanic, “but most of all we will remember him for his big heart, incredible sense of humor and that how much he loved his family. We will miss him today and every day for the rest of our lives.”
