In the search area of the submersible “Titan” sonars recorded underwater noise – with an interval of 30 minutes there was a knock.
How informs Euronews, today, on Wednesday, this was confirmed by the US Coast Guard. However, subsequent searches missing submarines were ineffective.
The day before, Rolling Stone was the first to report underwater sounds. CNN quotes data from a government memo that talks about “additional acoustic feedback.” The digital document also mentions that a Canadian P3 aircraft detected a white rectangular object in the waters of the Atlantic.
It’s not yet clear if the Coast Guard’s report this morning only refers to attempts to trace the origin of the underwater noise, or if it also means that the object found on the surface is not related to the Titan.
A commercial remotely operated vehicle (ROV) is connected to the rescue operation, and rigging lines will be used for possible recovery.
