Who is in the missing submarine – the names of billionaires are known

In the Atlantic, the search continues for the bathyscaphe that disappeared during the descent to the Titanic.

As our publication reported, after the disappearance of the bathyscaphe, designed to deliver tourists to the site of the sinking of the Titanic, search and rescue operation in the Atlantic Ocean. Hamish Harding, the British billionaire owner of Action Aviation, an aircraft sales and operation company, is also on board the submersible.

The names of the other billionaires on board the missing submersible became known – these are five people whose total asset value is about $ 10 billion:

  • British businessman Hamish Harding (worth $1 billion);
  • one of the richest people in Pakistan Shahzada Davud and his son Suleiman (Shahzada’s fortune is about $8 billion);
  • CEO of OceanGate (which organized this expedition to the Titanic) Rush Stockton;
  • French submarine explorer Paul-Henri Nargolet.

The name of another passenger is unknown. The media say that the dive began in the first half of Sunday, oxygen was at 96 hours, that is, the supply should be enough until Thursday afternoon. After 1 hour and 45 minutes after the dive, communication with the submarine was cut off.

Finding a submarine is difficult, as it is not clear where it is: under water or on the surface. The Times notes that the last exchange of data from the missing bathyscaphe was recorded from a point just above the wreckage of the Titanic.

The Bathyscaphe “Titan” is now being searched for by American and Canadian ships and aircraft, sonar buoys monitoring the depth of almost 4,000 meters are being dropped into the ocean. It is possible that an underwater drone will be involved in the rescue operation.

Why the crash happened is not yet clear. Perhaps the power supply system was turned off, there was a short circuit, a leak began due to high pressure, or the submarine was carried out by the current in the wrong direction, or it was stuck in the structures of the Titanic.

The seven-meter vessel weighs 10 tons, is capable of diving to a depth of 4 km and supporting the life of the crew for about four days. It is equipped with electric motors, cameras, lights and environmental scanners, as well as Starlink satellite communications. It was through Starlink, most likely, that one of the expedition members managed to write earlier that he was fine.

Another feature – the submarine closes and opens only from the outside. This means that even if the bathyscaphe surfaced, people would not be able to get out of it.
