Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree that allows foreigners who signed a one-year contract with the Russian Armed Forces during the war to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
In accordance with the presidential decree, which published on the Internet portal of legal information, family members of foreign contract workers also receive the right to obtain Russian citizenship.
To become a contract serviceman in the Russian army, a foreign citizen must provide documents and pass a selection process. But on the condition that he is on the territory of Russia legally. In this case, the contract may be concluded for a period exceeding the duration of the visa he has.
After the expiration of the contract, foreign citizens receive the right to enter the citizenship of the Russian Federation under a simplified procedure, without the need to obtain a residence permit. To do this, the contract must be concluded for a period of at least a year, and participation in hostilities must last at least six months.
