Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan decided to leave his mark on history and build a unique Istanbul tunnel under the Bosphorus – for the first time in the world it will be three-story.
The third tunnel will connect the European and Asian parts of Turkey’s largest metropolis. Erdogan announced this at a rally in Istanbul, noting that, thanks to the implementation of this project, 11 different rail transport lines will be connected in the Istanbul transport system, which will be used by 6.5 million citizens daily, quotes his BB.LV:
“We are now implementing the Big Istanbul Tunnel project. This project will be the third tunnel to pass under the Bosphorus, after the Marmaray and Eurasia tunnels.”
The Great Istanbul Tunnel will be the first such project in the world. Recall that on May 14, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Turkey. Opinion polls show Erdogan faces the biggest electoral challenge in his two decades in power.
