Seven people were killed when a car plowed into pedestrians near a homeless shelter in Brownsville, Texas on Sunday morning.
According to ABC News, a Brownsville police spokesman, the incident occurred at 8:30 am near the Ozanam Center, a shelter for the homeless and immigrants.

In addition, according to the same report, at least six other people were injured and taken to hospital, some with more serious injuries and others with less complex injuries.

Police say one person has been arrested in connection with the incident. The driver was taken to the hospital, as he also suffered injuries, and is under round-the-clock police surveillance. The man will undergo toxicology tests to find out if he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident.
According to initial reports, the accident was an accident, and the driver was charged with dangerous driving. Investigators have not provided any further information about the motive for the incident at this time.
