Starship exploded after three minutes of flight (video)

SpaceX Elon Musk tried to launch the largest rocket in the history of mankind, Starship, but in the fifth minute of the flight it exploded.

On April 20, Elon Musk’s Starship rocket was launched from the SpaceX test site in Boca Chica County, on the Texas-Mexico border. Her start was broadcast live.

The launch ended in failure – the separation of the second stage was abnormal, the rocket began to rotate in the air and the MCC decided to blow up the rocket at the beginning of the fifth minute of the flight. According to the plan, the first stage of the Superheavy was supposed to fall in the Gulf of Mexico, testing the operation of the engines in landing mode, then, after about an hour and a half, the ship itself was supposed to fall in the Pacific Ocean. Both stages of the rocket are designed as returnable, but during the test flight a full-fledged landing was not planned.

Musk planned that the new rocket would allow delivering cargo to the moon, and later help humanity get to Mars. SpaceX has already won a tender to deliver a man to the Earth’s satellite as part of the Artemis program. The launch of Starship was scheduled for April 18, but due to a technical malfunction, it was postponed for two days.

The designers will still have to work with the first stage of the “Superheavy” rocket, since after the launch, 3 engines did not work at first, then their number increased to 6. Judging by the fact that the rocket began incomprehensible maneuvers in the fourth minute of the flight, apparently, others also failed engines.

Reportedly, the mission control center, realizing that the situation was out of control, decided to detonate the rocket.
