Ominous darkness in Istanbul

After a heavy downpour, a black cloud over Istanbul turned day into night for several minutes, causing people to panic.

A cloud consisting of large crystals and drops appeared on April 18 after rain. Edition Turkiye Gazetesi writes:

“Heavy rain that began at rush hour had a major impact on traffic. While struggling with the downpour and traffic jams, Istanbul residents also witnessed a rare natural phenomenon: a cloud completely covered the sun for five minutes. When it suddenly became dark, many began to panic.”

The video shows how a 7-kilometer cloud is rapidly covering Istanbul. The resulting panic was explained by the fact that many considered this an omen of another earthquake. According to local media reports, the cloud appeared after heavy rain, which created the effect of night. According to other versions, the black cloud was formed as a result of a sandstorm in one of the districts of the city.
