Exports: record highs for fruits and vegetables


Exports of Greek fruits and vegetables to the overseas market continue at a record pace, with higher percentages coming from cucumbers and tomatoes, strawberries, oranges and tangerines, and kiwis.

According to the Incofruit Hellas Association of Greek Fruit, Vegetable and Juice Exporters, strawberry exports increased by 27.7% from the beginning of the year to April 12, 2023, amounting to 44,411 tons compared to 34,787 tons for the corresponding period in 2022.

Exports of tomatoes increased by 52.4%, which amounted to 19,938 tons from January 1 to December 4, 2023, compared with 12,725 tons last year. Cucumber exports reached 58,217 tons compared to 41,575 tons in the 2021/22 season, up 40%.

Also, from September 1, 2022 to April 12, 2023, exports of oranges reached 296,437 tons (up 26%), and tangerines – 153,965 tons (up 28.8%) compared to the previous season. The export of apples continues at a low pace, from 01/09/22 to 04/13/23 their export is 59,588 tons compared to 51,046 tons in the corresponding period last year. Kiwifruit exports amounted to 189,512 tons compared to 180,283 tons in the corresponding period last year.
