By decision of the Minister of Citizens’ Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, driver’s licenses, license plates and vehicle permits will be returned from Monday, April 10, 2023 to facilitate the movement of citizens during the Easter holidays.
The decision concerns recorded violations committed by drivers who, in connection with this, had their certificates (license plates) temporarily withdrawn or handed over to the police until Sunday, April 9, 2023.
This applies to drivers who have committed offenses such as:
- Article 34 of the C.O.K. (stop and parking).
- Article 4 provision 3 of the C.O.K. (sign P40, stopping and parking are prohibited).
Citizens were seized driving documents and license plates for 20 (twenty) days, in accordance with paragraph 8 of Article 103 of the Code of Civil Procedure (amendment in part 3 of Article 31 of Law 4530/2018).
The exception is (not subject to return during Easter) driver’s documents or license plates of citizens who have committed such offenses as:
- Driving through a traffic light.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol (drugs).
- Driving in an emergency lane (ELA).
- Associated with preventing the entry of disabled people and parking in dedicated or shared parking spaces for disabled people.
- Dangerous / extreme / demonstrative driving, participation in impromptu races (cars, motorcycles, mopeds).
The condition for the return of the aforementioned documents and license plates is the payment of an administrative fine.
