It is expected that on Wednesday 5.04 the “premiere” of the Easter basket will take place, which, among other things, will include lamb, goat meat, chureki and chocolate eggs.
Speaking on the SKAI TV channel, the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis also touched upon the topic of prices for lamb and goat meat. “We have had several discussions with both breeders and supermarkets about the price we can charge for traditional meat products. This year, lamb and goat meat have an unprecedented increase compared to last year. The goal is to keep the price of lamb at the level of 10 euros,” said the Minister of Development.
The minister clarified that “this year we have a certain lack of meat, besides, due to the Catholic Easter, there was a very large export. But inflation is declining and we are in a good 5th place in the Eurozone, 5.4%.”
Regarding the consumer basket, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized: “We have two serious reductions. In two weeks, the average basket value fell by 4%. To do this, the prices of many products have remained stable, and the prices of many products have fallen.”
“The measure “family basket”, as planned, is valid until June 30. But since we do not know how political events will unfold in the near future (…), I have given my successor the opportunity to extend it if it is deemed appropriate,” he added.
He also stressed that “in “godfather’s basket” 33 items and 1500 product codes have been added. Prices start from -20%.
