A 2.5-year-old girl has died at the Thessaloniki Municipal Kindergarten “Agios Stylianos”. A medical examiner arrived at the scene of the tragic incident.
According to preliminary information, informs voria.gr, this morning the baby was found dead by the employees of the institution after a night’s sleep. The kindergarten nurse in charge discovered that the girl was having trouble breathing and immediately reported to the emergency room. However, all efforts to bring the child back to life were unsuccessful.
It is reported that earlier yesterday at noon, the girl was examined by a doctor. A baby girl from Nigeria has been receiving some treatment for a few days, but her health problems have not been serious.
As soon as the death of the child became known, the general secretary of the municipality, Nikos Liakopoulos (he is also a cardiologist), rushed to the scene and took control of the situation, the newspaper writes. The medical examiner also arrived. The Municipality of Thessaloniki intends to conduct an investigation to establish the causes of the tragic incident.
