The explosion occurred at 7:20 am on Friday (February 17) at a gas bottle store in Egaleo.
According to iefimerida.gr, the explosion took place on Miauli and Dimarciu streets in the area, two people were injured. The shop owner was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Nikiya Central State Hospital. A street vendor who was setting up his stall outside the store also suffered minor injuries and several abrasions.
The place in Egaleo where the explosion took place looks “like after the bombing”. Shop with gas cylinders literally razed to the ground. The fire brigade is on site and the cause of the explosion is under investigation. Witnesses from the scene reported that shortly before the explosion, the atmosphere smelled of gas, but the leak has not yet been confirmed.
