In the case of the participation of the Alliance states in a high-intensity conflict, that is, in the case of the application of Article 5 on mutual defense or the development of hostilities, NATO countries develop special instructions.
It was announced on Tuesday agency Bloomberg. The publication of the publication says that the ministers of defense of the countries of the Alliance this week, at a meeting in Brussels, will sign new political guidelines. They will set out the investment requirements for preparing NATO members for any potential military activity.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, the publication clarifies that the secret document will plan ways for the simultaneous participation of NATO states in a high-intensity conflict, the so-called conflict under Article 5, in which the allies will have to protect each other, as well as in the event of military events beyond outside the scope of Article 5.
Recall that Article 5 is NATO’s mutual defense provision, which provides for the defense by all allies of one member state if it is attacked. A senior NATO official said that Alliance members will be asked to refocus investments on the capabilities needed for collective defense, such as heavier troops, more powerful air and missile defenses.
The document will also note the need to increase investment in digital modernization, the need for the integrated use of data received from the armed forces. Once the guidelines document is adopted, the requirements for each member of the Alliance will be elaborated in detail by NATO military commanders in the coming months.
