The number of victims of the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan exceeded 920 people, another 610 were injured and wounded.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) estimated the intensity of the tremors at 6.1 on the Richter scale. The earthquake rocked the Afghan provinces of Paktika and Khost on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, Tolo News reported, citing data from Deputy Minister for Disaster Management Sharafuddin Muslim.
At a press conference, the official said that the number of victims (920) and injured could increase, as there are people under the rubble of destroyed buildings. Rescuers arrived at the disaster site and began search work. The wounded are evacuated to hospitals by helicopter.

Severe damage is reported in the provinces of Paktika and Khost. The earthquake triggered landslides.
