Today at noon, the funeral of 48-year-old Nektariya, who was brutally murdered yesterday, will be held, her ex-husband surrendered to the police.
The victim’s 54-year-old ex-husband, who had threatened to commit suicide, surrendered to the authorities after 8 hours of negotiations and is in the hospital under police protection. He has two stab wounds, as said by the head of the Ierapetra hospital, Manolis Kallionakis cretapost:
He has two minor stab wounds on his left chest. One is superficial, the other is a little deeper. Doctors treat him until he needs surgery.
According to EL.AS., after interviewing witnesses and acquaintances, the man had previously been treated in a psychiatric clinic, but there is no information that he ever showed aggression towards others. A report from the Regional General Directorate of Police of Crete says:
“None of the police services of the aforementioned prefecture recorded or reported anything related to this case to the detriment of citizens.”
The crime was preceded by a fierce showdown between the former spouses with a fight. As a result, the 48-year-old woman died from multiple stabs inflicted on her. The couple have four children. Tragedy happened early yesterday morning in the area of Perister.
