The “Amur.Info” agency informs about an explosion and fire at the Amur gas processing plant of “Gazprom”. At the giant enterprise where fuel is being prepared for pumping through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, the refining process has been suspended.
The incident occurred in the city of Svobodny on the night of October 8, by the morning the fire was extinguished. A gas torch caught fire at the enterprise. According to TASS, the cause of the explosion lies in the depressurization of the equipment. Fortunately, there were no workers on the site during the emergency, so there were no injured or dead. 2.5 thousand people were evacuated. The nearby residential buildings were not damaged. The press service of the plant reports:
“There was a pop of gas with a fire. An emergency situation occurred, there were no casualties or destructions, the automatic fire extinguishing system worked. The damage is established, the fire is extinguished. The process did not suffer, but was stopped. “
The company still finds it difficult to say when production will be restored. The GPP representatives said that it depends on the completion of the emergency work.
The Amur GPP is the largest enterprise of Gazprom, the complex is under construction. It will process multicomponent natural gas, which is produced from the Irkutsk and Yakutsk production centers. According to the plan, the plant will have 6 technological lines with a capacity of 42 billion cubic meters of gas. The first branch was launched in June 2021.
