Residents of the Greek capital and many areas of Attica felt the tremors that occurred today shortly after midnight, 21 km from Corinth.
The source of the 4.1 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale was at a depth of 5 km. According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the epicenter was observed 21 km east / southeast of the city of Corinth.
EKPA Geology Professor Efthymis Leccas, President of the OASP, says: “This is not a concern.” The scientist notes that the area is known for its seismicity and, although these tremors do not cause much concern, the competent services and the OASP are vigilant.
The earthquake was superficial and no injury or serious damage has been reported to date.
