The President of the Republic of Greece visited the people hospitalized in the KAT hospital who received burns while extinguishing forest fires, as well as firefighters who received burns in the line of duty.
Katerina Sakellaropoulou was informed by the head of the hospital Ioannis Iliopoulos and the attending physicians about the state of health of the patients in the hospital.
She then visited and spoke to two of the four firefighters receiving treatment in the burn ward (the other two are being treated in the intensive care unit).

Ms Katerina Sakellaropoulou visited the Fire Operations Center in Halandri, where she was briefed on the current situation in the country by the Minister of Civil Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis and the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias.
“At this critical time, our thoughts and support are focused on our brothers who are suffering and in danger,” said the President of the Republic. “This is the shield of our country.”
Ms. Sakellaropulu noted that “everyone is vulnerable to fire”, that there are many things to do, big and small, and added, “But now we all need to show courage and solidarity.”
