The 74-year-old ex-husband, responsible for the murder of his 64-year-old wife in Agia Varvara, was arrested by the authorities at around 7:00 pm on Friday evening, June 4.
He personally appeared at the police department, department of West Attica, and, as follows from the report, confessed to his act. He also handed over 32mm weapons and 3 rounds to the police.
“I had no intention of killing her. We had years of financial friction. Yesterday I went to her house to borrow money or something in gold.” She insulted me … My mind was clouded … and I killed her. ” , – he stated this, among other things, in his confession. According to information from zougla.gr, the man allegedly even stated to the police that he had chronic “showdowns” with his ex-wife. He noted that this situation led to the fact that he was in a very bad financial situation.
A case was brought against him on charges of murder and violation of the law on weapons. The man was taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
Chronicle of the murder
A 64-year-old woman was found on the street lying on the asphalt at 21:10 on June 3 by passers-by (the intersection of Eyolou and Praxitelos streets in the Agia Varvara area). The townspeople immediately notified the police and EKAB. The victim was taken to Nikiya’s general hospital, where doctors fixed her neck and shoulder wounds and declared her death.
It is noted that from the very beginning, the death of a woman was considered a criminal act. Well-informed sources stated that “the investigation by the authorities initially focused on the victim’s family environment, as she allegedly had financial disagreements with a relative (ex-husband),” which was subsequently confirmed.
