Kasidiaris leaves prison on seven-day leave


Ilias Kasidiaris received the right to prison leave for 7 dayssince his request for this was granted by the Domokos prison, where he is being held.

This deadline expires October 22. In addition, during this period, Kasidiaris must visit the police station of the area where he has declared his residence. According to reports, Kasidiaris was picked up from Domoku prison by his father today.

After the murder Pavlos Fissa Giorgos Roupakias in September 2013, he was arrested along with other Golden Dawn members on charges of participation in a criminal organization, but was released under restrictive conditions.

He was detained in July 2014 but was released a year later. In October 2020, a three-member Court of Criminal Appeal found him guilty of leading a criminal organization and sentenced him to 13 years and 6 months in prison. He has been serving his sentence since October 2020 and is currently being held in the Domokos maximum security prison.

In May 2020, he left Golden Dawn and announced the creation of the nationalist Greeks for the Motherland party in a YouTube video. The reason for his departure was that Nikos Michaloliakos rejected his proposal to change the ideological structure and name of the Golden Dawn, and to accept the leadership of the party by Kasidiaris himself.

In the 2023 municipal elections he was candidate for mayor of Athens from the party “Free Athenians” (Ελεύθεροι Αθηναίοι) and was elected councilor. He was removed from his position as city councilor the same day he took the oath of office.
