Syriza's central committee “blocked” the candidacy of Stefanos Kasselakis in the party's internal elections, thereby ending the idiosyncratic businessman's “career” as president or ordinary member of the party.
The decision was made by 138 votes, while members of the Central Committee supporting the candidacy of Pavlos Polakis abstained from voting. As for the proposal to expel Stefanos Kasselakis from the party, it does not seem preferable.
The meeting began 2.5 hours late until the required quorum was achieved, and speeches ended shortly before 7:30 p.m.
S. Kasselakis will go down in history as the strangest and most controversial political figure, demonstrating the most lightning-fast rise of a politician and the most immediate fall, not only of the left, but in general.
He came literally “out of nowhere” and became the president of the main opposition, despite his personal “peculiarities”, which, nevertheless, were tolerated in his party. But his ignorance of politics, his ignorance of even the most simple and national issues (who can forget that he called the Turkish-Cypriot pseudo-state, which arose from the blood of thousands of Greeks and Greek Cypriots, a “state”) sent him back to where he came from: to nowhere!
