A hemp plantation with 8,000 seedlings was found near Thebes

Thebes police arrested a 44-year-old farmer who grew more than 8,000 dendrils of cannabis on a 114-acre plot. The hemp plantation was hidden in the village of Akraifnio near Thebes among the corn crops.

The Thebes Security Service, in collaboration with the Attica Security Service's anti-narcotics department, discovered record-breaking cannabis plantation.

The farmer got burned after the height of the hemp dendrills became higher than the corn. The plants were noticed and reported to the police… The height varied from 1.2 to 3.5 meters, and in some places even higher than corn. A total of 8,342 hemp seedlings were found on the hashish plantation.

According to ERT, 1,348 seedlings were uprooted and the remaining 6,995 were destroyed in the field using a shredder. Four tents, clothes and food items used by the persons in the plantation were also found and seized by the police. According to initial estimates, the manufacturer and his accomplices planned to grow 7.5 tons of cannabis, and the expected profit could be 15 million euros!

It is worth noting that the 44-year-old arrested will testify to the prosecutor of Thebes during the day, while 5 more accomplices of the farmer are wanted. The following were also discovered and seized on the plantation:

  • electroshock device (taser),
  • 48 rounds of firearms;
  • the amount is 1850 euros.

In addition, two private cars belonging to the arrested person were seized.

PS The farmer did not expect the hemp to grow above 3 meters. But it's a joke“hemp is a tree, but it's not allowed to grow” there is some truth.
