Sophia Loren celebrated her 90th birthday with a party in Rome

Italian star, cinema icon, winner of two Oscars in Hollywood, Sophia Loren celebrated her 90th birthday on Friday (20.09.2024) in Rome.

“Yes, time really flew by. In an instant, my life went from what was in front of me to what was behind me. That’s why I go to bed every night with the same desire: to enjoy the present tomorrow and live every moment to the fullest,” Sophia Loren once said.

Born in the Eternal City on September 20, 1934, the unforgettable star of the film “A Special Day” (1977) blew out her 90 candles during a private celebration held at a luxury hotel in the historic center of the city. After the gala event at a Roman cinema, organized by Cinecittà and the Ministry of Culture, The actress joined 150 friends, colleagues and family members for dinner on the hotel's rooftop. There, she is also expected to open a suite named after her, Il Corriere della Sera reports.

On this occasion Sophia Loren will be dressed by her close friend Giorgio Armani. Sophia Loren's 90th birthday will also be marked with a retrospective tribute at Lincoln Center in New York.
