Ukraine will receive loan for 35 billion euros from the previously agreed upon “Big Seven” amounts of 50 billion eurosthe head of the EC said Ursula von der Leyen.
She announced this intention during her visit to Kyiv to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This money will be part of the support package planned by the G7 group, which should amount to 50 billion dollars. In addition to this EU will provide Kyiv with 160 million euros to restore damaged power lines before the heating season, as well as to purchase mobile heaters and other equipment.
“As friends and partners of Ukraine, we must do everything possible to keep the lights on in the country”said Ursula von der Leyen.
Zelensky said that some of these funds will go to energy and defense, and some to domestic production of weapons and air defense. He also said that he wants to “put an end to the war” at the second peace summit. “We are interested in peace: we must strengthen Ukraine as much as possible in order to organize a second summit this year that will be able to put an end to this war. Precisely such an end that will never become an ellipsis.”– Zelensky said.
