Trade unions in Greece's private and public sectors are preparing nationwide strikes in response to persistently high prices and the high cost of living in general, while wages and pensions remain stagnant.
General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) and the Confederation of Public Employees (ADEDY) have announced plans for nationwide strikes in November in response to ongoing economic problems.
GSEE is considering a 24-hour strike to address issues such as inflation, the housing crisis and collective bargaining agreements, which it believes are burdening the workforce. The exact date of this strike will be decided at the upcoming plenary meeting of its board of directors.
Meanwhile, ADEDY has decided to hold a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, November 13. The organization criticized the government's economic policies, accusing them of worsening poverty and hardship for workers.
