Reuters: "Mossad" planted explosives in pagers for "Hezbollah" (video)

The pagers that exploded in Lebanon were modified “at the manufacturing stage,” Reuters sources said.

Sky News Arabia sources say the explosives detonated after batteries heated up. On Wednesday, September 18, Reuters reported, citing a senior Lebanese security source and another source, that Israel's Mossad intelligence service planted a small amount of explosives in 5,000 Taiwanese-made pagersordered by the radical Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah several months before their September 17 bombings.

The movement ordered pagers from the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo, the equipment was imported to Lebanon in the spring. The source of the publication claimed that The devices were modified by Israeli intelligence “at the production stage.” Reuters information matches data The New York Times, which cites American and a number of other officials.

A senior Lebanese security source provided a photograph of a model AP924 pager, which like other pagers wirelessly receives and displays text messages but cannot make phone calls. Hezbollah militants use the pagers as low-tech communications devices to try to evade Israeli tracking, two sources familiar with the group's activities said.

But the devices were modified by the Israeli spy service “at the production level.” “Mossad has embedded a circuit board with explosive material in the device that receives a code. It is very difficult to detect by any means. Even with any device or scanner,” the source said.

How writes CNN Greece, Mossad carried out a remote and, most importantly, successful attack, in essentially the same way that Israeli intelligence agencies have acted against the country's enemies in the recent past. Dozens of surveillance videos show people blowing themselves up trying to see the message coming to them on their buzzer… According to Lebanese media, hospitals in the capital are filled with wounded. There have been no statements from Israel regarding these events yet, but leaks from the intelligence agencies report to Israeli media that Israel has accelerated the process of eliminating key Hamas members who have found refuge in Lebanon, as well as high-ranking officials in Lebanon.

Official Beirut and representatives of the Hezbollah movement have placed responsibility for what happened on Israel. The terrorists promised that the state would suffer “the punishment it deserves” for their actions. Details published by Reuters shed light on an unprecedented breach in Hezbollah security that detonated thousands of pagers across Lebanon, killing nine people and wounding nearly 3,000, including the group's fighters and Iran's envoy to Beirut.
