Pieria: Another incident at the amusement park – a 6-year-old child was injured

Entertainment at Greek amusement parks appears to be getting more extreme, with several accidents in just a few days, including one fatal.

A six-year-old boy at an amusement park in Pieria got a hand injury because a roller coaster car derailed. The parents called the police and sued the culprits – the incident could have easily ended tragically.

Before the accident, the roller coaster sparked, and soon after, the car derailed. The child slightly injured his arm, but managed to hold on and did not fall – otherwise, he could have hit his head and the consequences would have been unpredictable. Everything happened in front of his parents, who were filming the happy face of the child before the accident. The mother says:

“On the evening of August 12th, my family and I went to an amusement park and my middle son, 6, asked me to go on the roller coaster. My husband went to put his seat belt on and the operator said, ‘Don’t.’ After the roller coaster had spun around a few times, it stopped. After a while, the operator came and started it again. The car my son was in was sending out sparks. It went a few meters and the car derailed. It fell on the railing, knocked it off, and flipped the car on its side and down. My child is small. Luckily, he held on to the metal structure himself and didn’t leave the roller coaster. He could have hit his head on the ground when he fell. He hit his arm a little.”

Meanwhile, it continues death investigation A 19-year-old boy at the Chalkidiki amusement park. His father promises: “They will lose sleep. This is going to take a certain turn.” The first report has already been submitted. A technical consultant said after an inspection he carried out on the ride that he saw an unacceptable situation:

“This particular structure and all the seats that are there, they all have rotten support points. They were extremely dangerous. And no, they didn't just become dangerous yesterday.”

The document allegedly states that the structures could support a weight of up to 19 kg, and that the deceased and his brother together weighed 180 kg.
