“Dima.” A guy from Ukraine faces jail and a huge fine in Italy for this inscription on the walls of the Colosseum in Rome. This is what the publication La Peppublica writes.
On Friday, a 19-year-old Ukrainian citizen scratched his name on one of the walls of an architectural monument that is more than 2,000 years old. Other tourists complained about him, and the police detained the Ukrainian. He was charged with damaging cultural heritage, which carries a prison term of up to three years and a fine of up to €10,000.
Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri commented on the incident and said that in the historic center of Rome “there is no place for hooliganism and idiots.”
