Russian planes will not arrive

The government is trying to calm the population, which is in panic due to the massive fires that have engulfed northern Attica, while the “Air Tractor AT-802” purchased from the mafia structure turned out to be useless due to the wind and the small amount of water, and the Russian planes that saved Attica in 2021, they won't fly anymore.

The fire front has reached 30 kilometers with winds of force 7-8, which have been blowing continuously since yesterday, but this is no excuse for the incompetence of the Mitsotakis government.

Winds of this intensity are a common occurrence in Greece, especially in August. At the moment, Kallithehnoupoli and Grammatikos are under threat, and houses are burning in Dioni, of course due to the inaction of the government mechanism. The winds constantly change direction, but this is also a common occurrence in Greece.

Almost 700 firefighters, a large number of volunteers and at least 30 aircraft of dubious quality and efficiency, since we are talking mainly about Air Tractor AT-802. They are of no use, since they simply do not fly in winds stronger than 7 points and carry only a little more than 1.5 tons of water, which is why they are completely incapable of extinguishing even the smallest fires. As of 5 a.m., 9 settlements were evacuated due to the fire:

Initially, the order was given to evacuate from Nea Penteli to Melissia and from Palea Penteli to Vrilissia. Shortly afterwards, the order was given to evacuate the settlements of Drafi, Dioni, Damarasi Rafina, Dau Penteli, Agios Spyridon and Anatoli from Nea Makris. Shortly before 9:30 a.m., a new message was sent to the 112 number to residents of the villages of Drafi, Dioni and Damarasi Rafina, instructing them to move along Marathon Avenue in the direction of Palini. At 5:13 a message was sent from the 112 number to residents of the same areas asking them to move towards Marathon Avenue.

New order demanded the evacuation of Kalithnopolis and Rafina, as well as Pedon Penteli, Anarotiri, the 414 military hospital, the monastery of Agios Ephraim in Anatoli and the monastery of Penteli.

Authorities have carried out at least 180 evacuations of people in danger due to the fire, and EL.AS. in its statement calls on citizens to follow evacuation instructions and not to approach the fire-engulfed areas with their cars. Of course, citizens remain in their homes because they know that this is the only way to save them.

Of course, many smart journalists and cunning officials have already come up with the famous phrase that the Mitsotakis government is spreading: “Houses are being restored, people are not.”

But the owners of the houses slated for burning know they will never be able to rebuild them because they no longer have the money to do so. What they had they allocated to build these houses, and they would rather risk their lives to save them than sleep on the benches in Syntagma Square.

To finish this issue with the philosophy of “sweet talk” (usually those who do it have a lot of money to build 2-3 more houses), to justify the inadequacy and incompetence of the Mitsotakis government and at the same time to justify the fact that it sends out evacuation orders to citizens in order to escape in time from fires that it does not extinguish.
