Sad but impartial statistics show that last year in the EU countries 24.8% of children were at risk of poverty, or almost twenty million.
The most unfavorable situation has developed in Romania, where this indicator is 39% of minors. The situation is slightly better in Spain, but the indicator of the risk of poverty for children is very high – 34.5%. Bulgaria closes the top three “leaders” – 33.9% of children are in a difficult social situation.
The lowest percentage of poor children is in Slovenia – 10.7%. The social situation is quite favorable in Finland – 13.8% of children are on the verge of poverty. The top three also includes the Netherlands with a rate of 14.3%, which is below the average for EU (24.8%).
The risk of poverty or social exclusion is high for children in Greece – 28.1%, remaining stable compared to 2022.
