The spire of one of the tallest Gothic cathedrals in the world is currently engulfed in flames. It is known that the fire broke out in the part of the building where construction work was underway. The cause of the fire is still being determined.

BFM TV footage shows a dark column of smoke rising from the spire of Rouen Cathedral. All visitors to the cathedral were evacuated.

The Gothic cathedral in the French city of Rouen was built in the 12th-16th centuries. The metal spire of the cathedral was built in the 19th century. The height of the cathedral is 151 meters. It is included in the list of national heritage of France.
