Life in a cage: her parents kept her locked up since she was 2 years old

In Kalamata, an incredible story has been revealed about a 29-year-old young woman, who allegedly lived since she was two years old in a wooden cage that her parents built in the house.

According to ANT1, the girl lived in a cage with bars and a lock. Her parents, who adopted her when she was about 2 years old, report that the child had a serious psychosomatic illness that could have endangered both herself and those around her. They previously posted a video from their home, complaining that although they ““We applied for medical help several times, but the competent authorities did nothing.”

Everything became known in 2022, when the Kalamata police department received a corresponding statement and received a prosecutor’s order to conduct a preliminary investigation. That same month, police, in collaboration with staff from the Kalamata municipality's home assistance program, went to the house where a 27-year-old girl was living at the time and discovered that she was living in a room whose doorway was barred.

The existence of a “partition” was justified by adoptive parents as the only means of preventing aggressive human behavior and self-harm.

In July 2022, AT Kalamata police officers, in pursuance of the order of the prosecutor, visited the specified house and discovered the presence of a wooden structure (cage) in the room, and the parents claimed that it was intended to protect their ward from seizures (?!).

The case materials were transferred by the prosecutor of first instance to the appellate prosecutor of Kalamata for inclusion in the case. As for the fate of the “captive,” nothing is known about this.
