The United States threatened the Russian Federation with a strike on the positions of its Armed Forces in Ukraine in the event of the use of nuclear weapons.
How reports BB.LV, Radoslaw Sikorski, head of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said this in an interview with The Guardian, without specifying who exactly made such a statement:
“The Americans told the Russians: If you use nuclear weapons, even if they don’t kill anyone, we will hit all your positions in Ukraine with conventional weapons.”
He added that if one of the parties to the conflict uses nuclear weapons, this will set a precedent for their further use by other countries, such as Japan and South Korea.
In March 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, said that nuclear war was a “farewell remedy” in the event of a threat to Russia's existence.
