Fishermen in Corinth caught… an amphora

Early in the morning of Saturday 23/09, the captain of a fishing vessel informed the port authority of Corinth about the fishing of an amphora in the sea area of Dimini.

The amphora, seventy-five centimeters high and 1.10 meters in circumference, was handed over by the ship’s captain to the port office, where it is currently located, Corinth coast guard officials said.

A message about the found artifact was also received by the competent department of the Εφορία Εναλίων Αρχαιοτήτων. Archaeologists will carefully clean the surface of the find and determine its contents.

As you know, ancient amphorae are periodically found in Greece.
