At the airport of Chania (Crete), Scandinavian and British tourists were joyfully welcomed, thereby officially “opening the curtain” of the 2023 tourist season.
Passengers from Oslo arrived in Crete at 11:30 am on a charter flight, and then at 13:06 on a SAS Scandinavian Airlines flight, thus opening the tourist season in Chania, which coincides with Catholic Easter. A British Airways flight from London also landed at 13:17.
In just a day, 17 international flights were carried out at the airport “Ioannis Daskalogiannis”, and since last week, international flights of low-cost companies have been operated daily.
Gradually, until mid-April, an increase in daily arrivals is expected. In connection with the Easter holidays, it is also expected increased traffic on domestic flights. Tourist flow in Chania will increase in April due to the arrival of 6 cruise ships, and 17 arrivals are planned for May.
