If you cannot go to the village to taste the lamb, then, probably, the sheep can get from the village to the city!
The highly quarantined Athenians will still be able to celebrate Easter well, thanks to their relatives from Karditsa and Trikala. As observed on the last pre-holiday days at KTEL (intercity bus stations), it has become “the norm” to receive arriving lamb and goat carcasses as parcels.
Since Easter without a village (or a country house) and frying a traditional lamb is a “so-so holiday”, the relatives of those who were “lucky enough to stay at home” took care of their city relatives, sending them carcasses of lambs and goats. The receipt of the holiday packages took place at the KTEL station in Liosia, which was captured by the reporters.
As expected, there was a spontaneous pandemonium, and therefore the police were forced to react.
It should be noted that Good Friday was the last day of specific routes, as since Holy Saturday, May 1, there are no more flights from Karditsa and Trikala, that is, the areas from where most of the parcels with lambs came.
In order to avoid theft of valuable postal items, the authorized services of KTEL reported that the delivery of parcels was carried out upon presentation of an identity card (tautotity) by a citizen. So, as a result, everyone was satisfied.
