An assassin's arsenal was discovered in an Albanian's house in Acharna

At a house in Acharnes, the West Attica security unit of the Attica Security Directorate found several explosive devices and ammunition, firearm silencers, military materials and supplies, flares and weapons early Saturday morning.

This was preceded by the arrest of a man of Albanian origin in the same area on Wednesday, October 2, from whom 57 cartridges, 2 grenades and a mobile phone were found and seized. He was discovered by MI.AS team members in the park along with another person, also of Albanian origin. When they saw the police officers, they tried to escape, but the first one was immobilized and arrested.

A case has been filed against them on charges of weapons possession, insubordination and violating the Aliens and Explosives laws..
As a result of further investigations by the Department of State Security of the Sub-Directorate of Security of Western Attica, a house was discovered in the Acharnon area, which was investigated as part of coordinated police operation in the presence of a judicial officer.

  • 4,459 rounds,
  • various firearms,
  • 25 flares,
  • 70 magazines for automatic weapons,
  • 6 mufflers,
  • 8 magazine covers,
  • optical sight,
  • 3- bulletproof vests,
  • bayonet,
  • weapon accessories,
  • 2 army knives.

The scene of the incident was photographed and investigated by staff criminal investigationand the seized items will be sent for laboratory examination.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the identity and location of the second offender and other persons involved, and involvement in other criminal acts is being investigated.

According to Albanian media reports, this case is related to Eralom Mekoa 37-year-old man from Berat in Albania with a serious criminal record in Greece. The 37-year-old man was arrested on October 2.

Meko was originally arrested in Greece in 2011 on a number of serious charges – assault on police, robbery and drug possession. He was sentenced to 53 years in prison, but after serving 8 years, he was released in July 2019 and repatriated to Albania. However, he returned to Greece under the same name, but with a changed surname.
