Greek police have ordered an internal investigation into at least one member of the MAT police special squad. He was filmed violently assaulting a woman during a protest against Palestinian autonomy in central Athens on Monday.
Several videos filmed by other protesters and posted on social media show MAT fighters approaching a female protester.
One of them pushes and hits her. His colleague restrains him while a third employee hits civilians with a shield and kicks them. Another fighter sprays chemicals on civilians for no reason.

According to media reports, police officers under investigation claim that the woman swore at them. The incident took place near the metro station on Panormou Street in the Ampelokipi area in central Athens.
Police filmed themselves beating protesters, firing flares at motorists and passengers returning home, and spraying chemicals on anyone who dared to protest against the use of violence, reports avgi.gr.

A total of 20 protesters, men and women, were detained, ten of them were later arrested, the publication reports. efsyn.gr.
