In the center of Thessaloniki, a man was detained in an apartment who was holding four immigrants, demanding 1,500 euros from each of them for their release.
The arrested man, a 52-year-old Greek, was detained by officers of the Office of Foreigners in Thessaloniki and handed over to competent law enforcement officials.
As it became known, the four detainees – Moroccan citizens who arrived in Greece illegallyusing the services of human traffickers. Having taken them, the man brought the illegal immigrants to his apartment, where he held them against their will, reports EL.AS.
Now the police are establishing who owns this apartment and checking the possible connection of the detainee with groups involved in migrant smuggling.
