Pentagon on Strikes on Russia (Video)

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin made a statement regarding the strikes on Russia at a meeting in the Ramstein format.

He noted that Ukraine has its own effective weapons, which surpass ATACMS and Storm Shadow in range. The US Secretary of Defense, at a press conference following the 24th meeting in the Ramstein format, commented on the lack of permission to use long-range weapons on Russian territory, stating that there is no possibility that would be decisive, quotes Interfax September 6:

“What do I think about long-range weapons? I've been focused on helping Ukraine succeed in this tactical fight, this operational fight, to make sure that it can defend its sovereign territory, and there are multiple ways to do that. We've said all along that there is no single capability that is going to be decisive in this campaign.”

Lloyd Austin recalled that the partners had previously discussed the supply of tanks to Ukraine and “other possibilities”:

“We're going to focus on doing everything we can to ensure that they have what they need to be successful and to create the right dynamics on the battlefield that will perhaps create some opportunities and help Ukraine better defend its sovereign territory.”

When asked what is stopping the US from giving the go-ahead for the use of long-range weapons on Russian territory, Austin again stated that he “does not believe that one specific possibility will be decisive”:

“I stand by that comment. I think Ukraine has a fairly significant capability of its own to hit targets that are well beyond the reach of ATACM or even Storm Shadow for that matter.”

Earlier, the media reported that the US does not rule out the transfer of long-range JASSM air-to-surface missiles to Ukraine – they could be included in the autumn arms package.

Meanwhile, Lithuania announced that Ukraine will receive 10 million euros from it for the purchase of Ukrainian-made Palyanitsya drone missiles, reported Alexander Kamyshin following the meeting of the working group at the Ramstein military base:

“We received new confirmation from the Lithuanian Minister of Defense about the allocation of 10 million euros for the purchase of the Ukrainian Palyanitsya drone missile.”

Recall that according to the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov, one Palyanitsya drone missile costs less than $1 million. On August 24, President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that the Ukrainian military had struck the Russian army for the first time with a new weapon – the Palyanitsya drone missile. About its features told our publication.

The head of state stated that Ukraine's new weapons solutions, in particular the Palyanitsya missile, the first use of which he reported earlier, are a real way for Ukraine to act while its partners are “slowing down” in making decisions.
