Why hasn't the Ukrainian suspected of the bombing been arrested? "Northern Streams"

Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar, the Polish Minister of Justice, explained why Poland did not execute the European Arrest Warrant for a Ukrainian citizen.

In Poland, they were unable to arrest a Ukrainian suspected of explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines because he was not in the country, the minister said on Radio Zet.

At the end of August 2024, the German publication Spiegel reported that the suspected Ukrainian citizen had left Poland in a Ukrainian diplomatic vehicle and had previously passed through German territory without hindrance. In Berlin, they are convinced, the German media write, that the Warsaw authorities warned the wanted man:

“The German government…is furious with Warsaw. People connected with the German security services say they 'will not forget this to the Poles.'

In early June, a German court issued an arrest warrant for the Ukrainian, and he was immediately entered into the German wanted persons database. On June 21, Germany sent a European Arrest Warrant to Poland, but the planned arrest in Poland did not take place.

On Radio Zet, Adam Bodnar was asked whether it was true that Poland had refused to hand over to Germany a Ukrainian diver suspected of blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipeline. He replied, quotes “UP”:

“The location of this person on Polish territory has not been established. Measures were taken by the German services, but these measures could not be implemented due to the fact that this person was not on Polish territory.”
