Chania: Paleokastro settlement flooded due to bad weather

Heavy rains fell in Paleokastro, Malevizio municipality, resulting in flooding of the village during the night from 31.08 to 1.09.

The roads turned into rivers, as a result of which 3 cars were washed away, and half of the beach in this area was under water. In the morning, the authorities and services of the municipality of Malevizio were mobilized. Utility workers began clearing the roads and the beach from materials and dirt brought in by the bad weather. There were no casualties, and no significant damage to the infrastructure of the village was recorded. In addition to cars, the water washed away garbage cans, umbrellas and sun loungers from the beach, and a local tavern was also damaged.
