Ukrainian Foreign Ministry calls on Belarusian authorities to withdraw troops from border (video)

Official warning from Kyiv: The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on Belarus “not to make tragic mistakes” and withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian border.

How reports Euronews, The Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus “are concentrating a significant number of personnel” and weapons along the border with Ukraine. This prompted Kyiv to issue an official warning, “calling on Minsk to withdraw its troops from the border to a distance exceeding the firing range of Belarusian systems.” A statement from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said:

“We warn that in the event of Belarus violating the state border of Ukraine, our state will take all necessary measures to implement the right to self-defense guaranteed by the UN Charter. Accordingly, all troop concentrations, military facilities and supply routes on the territory of Belarus will become legitimate targets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”

The length of the common border between Ukraine and Belarus is 1,084 kilometers. According to a statement from Kyiv, military exercises in the border zone pose a threat to “global security” due to the proximity of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the site of the world's worst nuclear disaster. Kyiv also noted that former Wagner PMC fighters are present in the area where troops are concentrated on the border.

It is worth recalling that in February 2022, Belarus allowed Russian troops to use its territory as a springboard for an invasion of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Telegram channel Politics of the Country notesthat the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has not received any requests from the Ukrainian side to withdraw Belarusian troops from the border with Ukraine. This is stated in a commentary for the media by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Anatoly Glaz, published on the website of the department:

“We have not received any such requests from the Ukrainian side in any form. We have only seen this message on the Internet. You know, there is a lot of stuff there. So we ourselves would be grateful if someone could explain to us the logic of such statements. In our opinion, it is quite intricate.”

It was reported recently that Belarus was amassing troops at the border. Lukashenko explained this by saying that Ukrainian drones flew into Belarus when they attacked the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation, wrote previously our publication.
