What Greece Imports from Russia and Ukraine


According to data ELASTATthe trade balance between Greece and Russia in June 2024 remained negative, imports from Russia increased by 22.4% compared to June 2023, exports to Russia fell by 3.3%.

The financial volume of Greece's imports from Russia amounted to 145.8 million euros in June (compared to 119.1 million euros in June 2023), according to the Greek economic publication “Οικονομικός Ταχυδρόμος”, according to the statistical service. The value of Greece's exports to Russia in June of this year amounted to 7.3 million euros (in June 2023 – 7.6 million euros). The trade balance between Greece and Russia in June 2024 was negative, the deficit amounted to 138.5 million euros.

According to ELSTAT, Greece's main import item from Russia in June was hydrocarbons, followed by unprocessed aluminum and wheat and semolina. Greece mainly supplied olive oil and its fractions, jams, marmalades, jellies, fruit and nut pastes, and processed or canned vegetables to Russia.

In the period from January to June 2024, the value of Greece's imports from Russia amounted to €668.0 million, down 55.1% compared to the same period last year (€1 billion 488.7 million). The value of Greece's exports to Russia in the first 6 months of this year amounted to €43.7 million, down 12.9% compared to the same period in 2023 (€50.2 million). The trade balance between Greece and Russia in January-June 2024 was negative, with a deficit of €624.3 million.

In June 2024 the cost Greece's imports from Ukraine amounted to 23.5 million euros, which is 4.9% more than in June 2023, which amounted to 22.4 million euros. The value of Greece's exports to Ukraine in June 2024 amounted to 115.4 million euros, which is 62.5% more than in June 2023, which amounted to 71.0 million euros. The trade balance of Greece and Ukraine in June 2024 was positive and amounted to 91.9 million euros (surplus).

The trade balance between Greece and Ukraine in the period January-June 2024 was positive and amounted to 484.6 million euros (surplus).

In 2023, 436 Greek companies imported from Ukraine and 464 Greek companies exported to Ukraine. Total cost Greece's imports from Ukraine in 2023 amounted to EUR 304.1 million, an increase of 8.4% compared to the corresponding total value in 2022, which amounted to EUR 280.5 million.

Greece's trade balance with Ukraine in 2023 was positive and amounted to 526.3 million euros (surplus).
