Fire Service: 26 fires recorded in the country in 24 hours

The number of agroforestry fires that have broken out in the country in the past 24 hours has reached 26.

Of these, according to the fire department, 19 were extinguished at an early stage, and firefighters are still battling seven more. The causes of the fires are being investigated by local investigative departments and a unit of the Arson Control Department (Κλιμάκια της Διεύθυνσης Αντιμετώπισης Εγκλημάτων Εμπρησμού, Δ.A.E.E.).

The fire that broke out in low vegetation/bushes in Paiania, Attica, has been brought under control. It broke out around 16:10 and 30 firefighters with a group of ground units of the 1st EMOD, 8 vehicles and two helicopters were mobilized to extinguish it.
