The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry will create an e-consul system to make life easier for Ukrainians outside the country – there will be no need to visit the consulate

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced the creation of an e-consul system that will make life easier for Ukrainians abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to launch an information and communication system designed to make the department's services more accessible to Ukrainians abroad. The corresponding resolution was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, and the system is already at the testing stage, it is reported on official website MFA. Dmytro Kuleba noted:

“The government's decision was the result of the MFA's systematic work on digitalization and modernization of consular services and created a number of new opportunities. MFA specialists are already working to implement them as quickly as possible. The modernized e-consul system will make MFA services more accessible and faster for more Ukrainian citizens abroad.”

According to the minister, Some consular actions will be completely transferred online and there will be no need to even visit the consular section. And other services can be obtained much more easily and quickly, since documents will be “pulled” from state registers automatically.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already created a digital platform on which in a closed mode, they are testing an updated electronic queue, electronic offices of the applicant and consul, automated pilot services in the field of notaries, and the processing of certificates and other actions.

The ministry continues to operate, writes “UP”, on connecting the system to state registers and information bases. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that this will reduce the operating time for providing services to citizens by 30-80%depending on the type of service. The system will be operational this yearafter passing the necessary checks:

• security,
• testing for vulnerabilities,
• the strength of data encryption algorithms,
• resistance to peak loads.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it plans to increase the pace of digitalization of the consular sphere next year. The plans include increasing the share of remote services, integrating online payments, document sharing in Dii and other services.

The Ministry notes that the need to modernize the e-consul system has become especially urgent during the war, since there are currently about 7.5 million Ukrainian citizens abroad, most of whom were forced to leave due to the Russian invasion.
